We recently issued our 2022 Annual Report–this overview highlights the continuing need in our community even as the effects of the pandemic lessen. The beginning of 2022 brought a slowing of client visits, increased availability of product from the Houston Food Bank, and a sense of leaving the pandemic behind. The year ended with the Pantry serving 17% more clients than 2021, a steep increase in overall product cost, and a decline in the ability to order non-perishable goods from the Houston Food Bank. Each year has brought challenges, from founding the Pantry to navigating hurricanes and pandemics. With your support, we have provided consistent, respectful service to our Houston community for more than 13 years.
Your financial and volunteer support provides our clients across Houston with a reliable source for nutritious food in a welcoming and caring environment. Our “curbside” service continued through 2022, as requested by our clients. We continue to look at options for a return to inside client-choice distribution, and are assessing the changes to our processes and volunteer needs that this would require.
As always, we welcome support of all types–volunteer, financial, food donations, and we are happy to explore additional opportunities to improve the service that we provide. We look forward to working together to further our vision: Neighbors Helping Neighbors Fight Hunger One Family at a Time.
