Volunteer

Heights Interfaith Ministries Food Pantry is 100% volunteer run. Each week more than 40 volunteers do the hands-on work of helping the hungry in our community. Volunteer opportunities include packing and prepping food as well as helping during our Thursday and Saturday food distributions. Each volunteer brings special gifts and talents to the Pantry and every individual is vital to achieving our mission. Those who volunteer with us experience the joy and satisfaction of knowing that their time directly and positively impacts others.

Who can volunteer?

  • Individuals age 16 and older may serve during any of our volunteer shifts each week.
  • Volunteers age 13-15 may serve during our Friday afternoon shifts and must be accompanied by an adult.

When can you volunteer?

Morning, afternoon and evening shifts are available, and volunteers can serve during the week or on Saturdays. Simply visit our online Sign-Up Genius scheduler, choose the shift you prefer and sign up to serve. No prior experience is required. All we ask is that you cancel if your schedule changes because we truly do need every person to get the job done!

Are there other ways to help?

Volunteers of all ages can assist with other duties or schedule special service activities:

  • Hold a food drive, then bring the collected food and stock our shelves. Check here for a list of especially needed items.
  • Receive deliveries—extra hands are needed to sort and store appropriately
  • Pick up donations at our partner grocers and restaurants
  • Deliver meals—we deliver meals weekly to homebound seniors in our area
  • Serve during special events—we have several larger scale distributions during the year. These events are great opportunities for school, work or church groups who want to volunteer together.
  • Plan a special project—we can help you find a job that’s right for your skills and talents
