About Us
Heights Interfaith Ministries Food Pantry began operations June 25, 2009 with the goal of serving families in need in the Houston Heights. Starting with a small volunteer crew, we have grown from serving clients in our immediate geographic area to distributing food to clients who live throughout the Houston metroplex. We are volunteer-run and rely on assistance from more than 40 community members every week to prep, package and distribute food.
Our Organization
Cheryl Engler, Executive Director, provides day to day management and oversight of pantry operations. A group of area churches offers board governance and financial guidance to the Pantry. Member churches include:

Since our inception, we have relied on the support and commitment of our community to sustain our operation. Our work has continued without disruption through hurricanes, floods, freezing weather and even a global pandemic. Our Supporters
As an agency of the Houston Food Bank, we are able to receive bulk staples at below market prices. We also work with businesses and organizations that provide food and other services to broaden our offerings and support our operations. These include Apple Spice Catering, Books Between Kids, Kolache Shoppe, Kroger, Moonshot Composting, Panera Bread, Second Servings and Starbucks.
