Valentine’s time is the perfect time of year to commit to
♥ SHARE THE LOVE ♥
In 2011, the Heights Interfaith Ministries (HIM) Food Pantry expanded services to include a meal delivery ministry program for low income, elderly, and homebound residents in the Heights area.
“I extend my sincere appreciation and gratitude to all
the people who make it possible for me to receive the
delivery of my meals. Without the provided food, I would
not have the financial ability for nutrition. I was amazed
at the quality and taste of the food when I received my
“Thank you for caring enough about me to give me a box of
meals that will feed me everyday for a week. With this food
and the little I buy with my Social Security, I am able to survive
every month. I cherish my good friends at the Heights
Interfaith Ministries Food Pantry for caring for and about me.
God has given me my personal guardian angels here on earth.
They take their time in caring for me.”
To facilitate this program, the HIM Food Pantry purchases boxed meals from the Houston Food Bank that provide the recipients with 5 complete, healthy, and nutritious heat-and-serve meals as well as milk and bread. HIM volunteers deliver the box of meals to each client once per week and visit with them to share God’s love and care. A week’s worth of meals (box of 5 meals) costs $10. Clients contribute as they are able, but this is usually no more than a few dollars per month.
In order to continue and hopefully expand this program, the HIM Food Pantry is asking you to Share the Love this Valentine’s Day and throughout 2013.
